Safeguarding at Sreepur Village - building trust, ensuring safety

At Sreepur Village, we believe every woman and child deserves to feel safe, valued, and protected. Our commitment to safeguarding isn't just a policy - it's at the heart of everything we do.

For over 36 years, we have provided a sanctuary for vulnerable women and children, offering not just shelter, but also hope through education, job training, and life skills development. But creating a truly safe environment goes beyond providing four walls and a roof.

What Safeguarding Means to Us Safeguarding is about protecting children and vulnerable adults from all forms of harm - physical, emotional, sexual, and financial abuse and neglect. It's not just about responding when something goes wrong; it's about creating an environment where harm is prevented before it can happen. Every person who walks through our doors - whether resident, staff member, or visitor - plays a vital role in maintaining this culture of safety.

How We Create a Safe Environment:

  • Dedicated Leadership: Our 7-member safeguarding committee (4 women, 3 men) meets monthly to ensure the highest standards of protection. When urgent situations arise, we act immediately with emergency meetings.
  • Empowering Through Education: We believe knowledge is protection. All mothers, children (ages 6-18), and staff receive regular safeguarding training, building awareness and confidence.
  • Shared Responsibility: Everyone in our community - beneficiaries, staff, visitors, vendors, and Board members - signs our Code of Conduct, creating a unified commitment to safety.
  • Digital Protection: In today's connected world, we've developed special protocols to protect privacy and dignity online. We always seek permission before sharing photos or stories and use pseudonyms to safeguard identities.
  • Swift Action: When concerns arise, we respond quickly with thorough investigations and timely resolutions.
  • Transparency: Our safety guidelines are clearly displayed at our entrance in both Bengali and English, ensuring everyone understands our commitment to protection.

At Sreepur Village, safeguarding isn't just what we do - it's who we are.
