How Families Join

Our Outreach Team works with partner agencies to identify destitute single mothers and children, conducting community visits to understand their unique circumstances including family networks and local support systems. Using tailored assessment tools, we evaluate each family's potential, challenges, and needs—a process requiring time and ongoing connection.

Upon arrival at Sreepur Village, families receive warm welcomes and stay in our clinic for medical check-ups to determine immediate support needs. Before formal admission, we ensure each mother freely chooses this opportunity for her family's future.

Finding Their Place

When families arrive at Sreepur Village, we provide gentle support as they adjust to their new community. Children quickly enter our safe school environment while mothers begin supervised work placements with allowances, often starting in childcare guided by experienced "leader mothers."

Our comprehensive training programme includes counseling, self-confidence building, and anger management. Daily support from staff and mother leaders ensures individual family needs are addressed.

Information gathered during initial home visits helps us understand each family's unique situation, forming the foundation for personalised Rehabilitation Plans—their roadmap toward independence and a brighter future.

Supporting Families to Thrive

Sreepur Village offers comprehensive family support through education, healthcare, vocational training, and nutrition services. Children attend age-appropriate schooling with evening tutoring and swimming lessons to prevent drowning—a common risk in Bangladesh.

Mothers participate in full-time development programmes covering literacy, financial management, parenting skills, and relationship building. Each opens her first bank account and learns marketable vocational skills such as agriculture, tailoring or bicycle repair.

Families follow personalised Rehabilitation Plans created collaboratively with staff, typically staying about 2½ years until mothers are prepared for independent living.

Building Independent Futures

Families preparing to leave typically transition to our Community House, where mothers manage household budgets with guidance, or skilled mothers may choose supervised village placements. After three months, families move to local homes with limited Sreepur support to foster self-reliance.

Each family completes a Pre-Release Home Visit to establish community connections, with social workers assessing support networks and potential challenges.

When the Rehabilitation Team and mother agree on readiness, the family resettles in their chosen community, beginning their independent journey equipped with newfound skills and resilience.

Independent Lives, Lasting Connections

When families leave Sreepur Village, mothers depart with accumulated savings—a crucial foundation for independence. Social workers assist with community reintegration and establishing income sources.

Though direct support diminishes, scheduled home visits monitor progress as we connect families to local services and remain available by phone for advice or emergencies. Regular check-in calls continue, particularly during the first year.

Our goal is helping families confidently settle with clear plans and local connections. Once fully integrated, official involvement ends, though we maintain contact and emergency assistance funds for crises like flooding.
