35th Anniversary Celebrations - London

Sreepur Village celebrated its 35th anniversary with a special lunch event at the RAF Club in London's Mayfair on May 18, 2024. This charity, dedicated to transforming the lives of marginalized single mothers and their children in Bangladesh, has been operating since its inception in 1989. 

The celebration featured two notable attendees from Bangladesh: Pat Kerr, MBE, who is the founder and Overseas Director of Sreepur Village, and Maya Halder (via a live link), who grew up in the Sreepur Village and has become "a talented artisan and is an inspiration to others." 

The anniversary celebrations included "a series of moving speeches, a retrospective on Sreepur Village's achievements, as well as a successful raffle and auction" with prizes donated by businesses and community members. 

A highlight of the event was the unveiling of "a limited edition collection of 35 hand-woven Jamdani scarves" crafted by the mothers at Sreepur Village. Each scarf comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by founder Pat Kerr.
