Connecting Threads Exhibition at Gallery Oldham

We are delighted to share that Sreepur Village features in the Connecting Threads exhibition at Gallery Oldham, showcasing the work of our long-time supporter and donor, Lynn Setterington.
Lynn is an ethnographic embroiderer who engages with the world through stitch. For more than five decades she has documented life using textile methods.
Among the pieces on display is a beautiful quilt that tells the story of connection between our supporters and the women at Sreepur Village. Created in 2012, this quilt was a collaborative project spanning two countries. Each woman at Sreepur Village sewed her signature onto fabric, which former Trustee Ruby Porter MBE (mother to our Chair of Trustees Janette Porter) bought back to the UK where the pieces were then carefully joined together, backing the quilt with a modern kantha from Bangladesh.
The result is a tactile record of everyone involved with Sreepur Village at that time – a physical representation of the threads that connect us all in supporting vulnerable mothers and their children in Bangladesh.
The exhibition celebrates the power of textiles to bring people together across distances and cultures. We're proud that Sreepur Village is part of this meaningful display.
