When Babul’s father died suddenly, everything fell apart. His mother, left with nothing, faced an impossible choice: watch her son go hungry or leave behind everything she knew. She chose survival. Silent. Withdrawn. Visibly malnourished. Today, that same boy tears across the football pitch with his friends, laughing. Regular meals, proper healthcare, and the simple security of a safe place to sleep have transformed him. The change is visible, measurable, and undeniable.
Babul is now thriving in Class 2. He reads. He writes. He solves maths problems — his favourite subject. His teachers describe a boy who is attentive, curious, and hungry to learn. None of this would have been possible without intervention. Without Sreepur, there would be no school. No books. No future.
The emotional recovery has been just as striking. A child who once sat in silence, too traumatised to speak, now raises his hand in class. He asks questions. He joins in. He has friends. Security and stability have given Babul something that cannot be measured in test scores: confidence.

“I like going to school and playing with my friends. I want to study well,” says Babul smiling.

For Babul’s mother, Sreepur has meant something equally profound: peace of mind. After months of fear and uncertainty, she can finally see a path forward. Her son is fed, healthy, and learning. She has shelter, support, and the chance to rebuild.

“After my husband died, I had nowhere to go. I was very scared for my son’s future. Now I see him healthy, learning, and smiling again. Sreepur Village gave us hope and a new beginning,” says Babul’s mother.

Babul’s story is not unique. Across Bangladesh, countless children face the same impossible circumstances. What made the difference for Babul was simple: someone acted.
