Juthy's Story

Juthy's Story

Juthy is a bright and affectionate 9-year-old girl studying at Sreepur Village’s school. She arrived at Sreepur Village approximately two years ago with her mother and two siblings from a remote northern village in Bangladesh. Her father, once a hardworking farmer, became severely ill and unable to work, leaving the family without a stable home or reliable food source. With nowhere else to turn, her mother sought shelter at Sreepur Village, carrying little more than hope for her children's survival.

When Juthy first arrived, she was frail and visibly undernourished. Her thin frame and tired eyes reflected the hardship she had endured. She frequently felt dizzy and weak, unable to play with other children or concentrate in class. Following a thorough health check-up at the Sreepur Village Clinic, she was diagnosed with severe malnutrition and immediately enrolled in the Special Nutrition Programme.

With the help of Sreepur Village, Juthy began receiving a balanced diet including milk, eggs, vegetables, rice, fruits, and fish - foods that were once beyond her family's reach. She particularly loves having bananas and boiled eggs in the morning and looks forward to lunch when fish curry is served, which has become her favourite meal. Under regular monitoring by clinic staff, her appetite improved, her weight increased, and her energy levels gradually returned.

As Juthy's physical health improved, her personality flourished. She is now full of laughter and life. She loves drawing flowers and birds in her notebook and enjoys spending time in the school garden, helping to water plants and picking fallen leaves. Her favourite activity is skipping with her friends after school, and she often leads songs during morning assemblies with a bright, confident smile.

Her teachers describe her as a curious learner who enjoys reading storybooks and is always eager to help her classmates. Inspired by the kindness and care she has received, Juthy now dreams of becoming a teacher herself - to help other children learn, just as she has been helped.

Juthy's renewed confidence has given her new dreams for the future. Once a weak and struggling child, Juthy now stands as a symbol of resilience and possibility - proof that with care, nutrition, and education, a brighter future can truly begin.
