International Literacy Day

This year's International Literacy Day theme, "Literacy for people, the planet and prosperity", was brought to life at Sreepur Village with a celebration marking the power of education to change lives.

The day began with dance performances from the children, before moving into a special gift handover ceremony for participants who had successfully completed the literacy programme. Each participant received a gift to mark their achievement, recognising the hard work behind every new skill learned.

Literacy is one of the most powerful tools we can give a mother or child. It builds confidence, opens up new opportunities, and lays the groundwork for a more prosperous future, for the individual and for the wider community around them. Read more...
