SUCCESS Project Celebration
The Dhaka Office came alive with joy and celebration this week as SUCCESS (Slum & Urban Community Children Education Schooling Support) brought 50 children together for a memorable quarterly outing. Their parents also attended, joining in after today's Parents Meeting.
SUCCESS is a day drop-in centre in Dhaka for around 50 children aged 8 and over from urban slums who are at risk of dropping out of school. Partner teachers stay in touch with each child and family, and Sreepur Village monitors attendance and progress, meets with families every quarter, and provides financial support to help keep children in school through primary education.
As SUCCESS is primarily indoor-based, this outing gave the children a chance to step outside their usual learning environment, enjoy outdoor games and spend quality time with their friends. The games created an atmosphere of excitement and friendly competition, with everyone cheering each other on.
The celebrations continued indoors with singing and dance performances where the children showed off their creativity and talents. A delicious meal followed, giving everyone the chance to relax and enjoy each other's company.
The day closed with a prize giving ceremony for the winners of the outdoor games, celebrating their achievements and encouraging teamwork and healthy competition.
One child said: "I really enjoyed playing outside with my friends. I wish we could have days like this more often." Another added: "The games, food and indoor performances made this a very special day for me."
